A little frost is normal, a block of ice isn't
In cold, damp weather it's normal for a heat pump to frost up and go into defrost mode now and then. You may even see steam. If the unit is caked in solid ice, or never seems to clear, the defrost controls, sensors, fan or refrigerant charge may be the problem. Call us.

Frequently asked
Why is my heat pump blowing cool-feeling air in winter?
Heat pump air is warm but not as hot as a gas furnace, so it can feel cool on your hand. If the house isn't reaching the set temperature, though, something's wrong. Call us.
Should I use emergency heat?
Only if the heat pump itself has failed. Emergency heat runs on electric strips alone and is expensive to use. If you need it, call us to repair the heat pump.
Do you service heat pumps from other brands?
Yes, all major brands.
